When it comes to choosing
a broadband internet connection that you can use when
you travel, you only have three major options to choose
from. WiFi HotSpots, cellular air cards, and mobile
satellite broadband.
Many people who have tried WiFi
hot spots or wireless cards have found that service
is not always available, and the Internet access can
be very slow when it is. That leaves Satellite broadband
as the most popular high speed Internet connection for
RV'rs.
Satellite powered broadband is the
best option for RVers because it gives you reliable,
unlimited high-speed access at any location that has
a clear view of the southern sky for one low price.
There are generally two types of
mobile satellite broadband Internet systems, fully automatic
auto-deploying systems, or manually pointed systems.
Manual point systems either need
to be set up and disassembled, transported, and stored,
or they are mounted to the roof of the vehicle and require
a trip up a ladder to deploy and point. Although manual-pointed
systems cost quite a bit less than the auto-pointing
systems when initially purchased, automatic pointing
mounts are easier to deploy - they are up and running
within a matter of minutes with the push of a single
button. Like most things, the choice between a manual
pointed system and automatic system is a trade-off of
convenience vs. cost.
With manual-pointed systems you
have a choice of two types, either tripod mounted dishes
or manual roof mounted units. Actually, either one can
work very well when correctly used, the tripod mounted
dishes provide much more flexibility for location of
the dish, but the manual roof mount units are much easier
and faster to set up and do not require lifting, carrying,
or storage of the components when not in use.
We only sell our system one way...a
fully complete turnkey system with quality components.
This design and its components have been tested over
the years and we know it works well. We do not provide
"budget" equipment. All our components are
top quality and field tested by our customers for three
years. We know it works!
You don't need special permission
from the FCC - or even HughesNet - to set up your high-speed,
portable satellite system. Just enter your zip code
in the satellite software stored in the HughesNet modem...write
down the coordinates that display...set the coordinates
on the dish...fine-tune the signal...go surf!
